What is Coaching?

Athletes rely on coaches to reach peak performance. While they never perform for the athlete being coached, their efforts are focused upon a "win-lose" experience. I once aspired to be an athletic coach. I have many friends who are, or have been, successful in coaching athletes.

Yet, for many years I have been involved in a form of coaching that impacts human performance. It does not focus upon winning and losing, but upon developing one's potential fully so as to participate in life experiences more effectively, being a helpful resource to others, and finding a path to greater personal fulfillment.

I coach others virtually every day. Some sessions are casual, and very informal. At other times, the sessions are by appointment. A few are face-to-face. Most are by telephone.

Some are international in nature with regular sessions scheduled to coach and mentor persons on expatriate assignments. Others deal with challenges faced in the coming home experience of repatriation. The sessions are scheduled in time periods of sixty minutes in length.

Some deal with interpersonal conflicts, and how to put one's resources to work in being able to live more harmoniously in stressful contexts. Others are business oriented, where one might be managing others, planning for improvement in a successful operation, or setting more appropriate goals and objectives. Those persons being coached may find this resource a viable option to access budgeted resources for corporate personal growth and development.
